| Split Image
That's only if you have two images the same open, I seem to remember a way of having one image open and then pulling a slider bar from the window which would drag a bar which would split the image in two. So if you had a face you could split it down the centre and it would show any filters applied to one side of the face still showing the original before the filter so you could see the difference.
I hope this makes sense. I sounds like its not possible as everyone has mentioned the same thing, but I am sure one of the previous versions of Photoshop had this feature and I would be very surprised if they removed this option as it was very useful when doing colour changes.
