    Adding a background using AE

    Hi Guys,

    I do a little bit of animation using 3dsmax and I was recently told not to use 3dsmax as the render to footage tool but to rather render to PNG and then use AE to compose the clip - that way getting more control over your final product ... which I can understand.

    However, when I render to PNG the background sometimes is blank and gets rendered as invisible in PNG format - which is fine because the files are smaller.

    - is it possible to add a solid color background to my composition in AE, that way eliminating that area getting rendered as BLACk in the .mov format?

    (see image below)

    Thanks
    Vic

    Of course, Add a new solid.

    Layer -> New -> Solid

    or Ctr + Y

    And make that solid whatever color you want.

    Put it under your .png file, and your done.
