To buy Illustrator... or not to buy Illustrator!

Wasn't quite sure where to go with this question.....

but is Illustrator a 3D graphics renderer or not? I'm curious because I found a good deal on PSCS+Illustrator!!

It's a little pricey, but not too bad -- less than $300 for both!

    What's the scoop? \:]

Illistrator is a vector drawing program not 3D

I would say that if you can get them both for less that $300 it's a great buy.

We don't have enough info to give an answer. If you get something that is totally legal (and I don't mean just the orginal sofware, also the license) and a working copy, then it's cheap. If it's illegal, then you're wasting your money and they're going to put you in one cell with Martha Stewart.

I did check to see if they are a licenced reseller -- and they are! So I guess I am getting one hell of a deal!! B7

I was just wondering if it was a good thing to have Illustrator in conjunction with PS. I guess it is if I want to get deeper into graphic art -- just wanted to hear some feed back!

Thanx for the input all !!

    mflintjer,

I do hate to rain on somebodies parade but the chance that someone is selling new, full version, legitimate, copies of those applications for > $300 is non-existent. Maybe academic versions. I'd suggest that you make sure they are legitimate copies which can be registered before you purchase.

I fully agree with Welles. I said earlier that it would be cheap, but actually I don't believe anyone selling software worth more than $1000 for only $300, because let's be honest, we're not talking here about furniture; you get exactly the same bits and bytes as someone who's paying the full price, an exact copy. You tell me why someone would sell an exact copy of the most recent software for 30% of the original price ... It doesn't sound kosher to me, at least not for full versions [slick]

Feel free to page me the link and I'll have a look at it.

Make sure you have the full copy and all the licencing rights before you part with your money. Here in Canada PSCS alone is nearly $1000 dollars so do be careful

Just as a side note. Illustrator CS does have a 3D function. It's kinda limited but does work (text & lines) and I hope you have a P4 with lots of RAM. I had a P3 with 312RAM and it choked when rendering a compound curve.

    Take a look here

As far as that killer price goes, it does sound kinda fishie. I wonder if it's an upgrade version. Now, if they are a Adobe employee they are making a nice profit.
