Resize to 2000x1333px


Step 1:


Open your background and duplicate (Ctrl+J). I resized the background to
2000x1333px. Now add your trr to the background and mask it. Using a soft
black brush, clean up the bottom area so it will fit nicely onto the floor
of the background.




Step 2:


Now place you tree somewhere nicely. I've added mine just right to the sun.




Step 3:


Now lets blend the tree into the background a little. So still on the tree
layer, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Sat and lower both the saturation and
the lightness.




Step 4:


Now add some exposure to the silouette.




Step 5:


Now we need a shadow for the tree. Duplicate the tree layer and highlight the
bottom tree layer. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Sat and slide the Lightness
all the way down so the tree turns all black. Now transform the tree into place
using the sun as your light source. Once happy with the position of the shadow
give it a gaussian blur of around 6-10% and lower opacity.




Step 6:


Use the warp tool on the shadow to match in to the contours of the field.




Step 7:


Add an adjustment layer above all layers. We will use the photo filter adjustment
layer using the settings I used.






That's it. I added a slight vignette and a little lens flare to tweak end result.
