Hey guys,

After using Photoshop for years, I decided to give Illustrator a shot and looked for tutorials. Currently, I'm trying to follow this one: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials...textured-logo/

One issue though, my shapes won't fill. This is how it currently looks: http://s14.directupload.net/images/130520/88jmfda5.jpg

Obviously, the shapes are not colored. Even if I set the color to red and draw a new rectangle, it is not filled...

Where's my problem?

Thanks in advance

I would like to find out if anyone would knows how to insert page numbers on art boards. For example if I have 100 art boards and I need to put page numbers on each page I dont want to manually put it in. Like in Indesign how there is a master page and the page numbers follow in sequence such as Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, etc and are printed on the pages.

Thanks.

I am trying to make a simple basic logo for my motocross race team.....me and my dad.....and I can't figure out how to go from a sketch I drew on notebook paper to a vector file. If anyone could give me any tips on how to do this or would be willing to do this for me, It would be very much appreciated. This is the logo I drew. I threw it into photoshop and cropped it and colored the numbers red. It shouldn't be very hard but I cant get it. I have the outline of the box that I used the shear tool on and made it 22.5 degrees which looked good. I have no clue on how to go about the text. I'm much more of a photoshop guy. :/

I want to take two 3D views (hidden line) from Autodesk Revit Architecture 2012 to Illustrator (CS5) and then make use of the live paint bucket tool. I've printed the two views into pdf files and imported them in Illustrator, but when I want to use the Live Paint Bucket tool Illustrator gives me the following error:
"The selection contains objects that cannot be converted. Live Paint groups can only contain paths and compound paths. Clipping paths are not allowed."
How can I solve this issue? Exporting images (jpg) from Revit results in the same error. Is there a way to easily convert my vector image to a non-clipping paths drawing?

Hi folks,

Sorry, it should say "math calculation" in the heading.

I want the red circle 1/3rd the size of the black. And I want the white 1/3rd the size of the red.

Or I can do it backwards and say I want the red 2/3rd bigger than the white, and the black 2/3rds bigger than the red (is that the right math? I suck at math.)

Anyway, outside of writing down and calculating the desired measurements longhand, and then selecting each circle to resize manually, is there some task that ILLY can perform automatically?

Thanks!

Hello, My first post here. I am a glassblower and also a photographer/Photoshop geek Artist in general. Recently We have the ability to mix Glassblowing with Graphic Design. I am really proficient in PS but never got into Illustrator, cause i never really needed it until now with the "trace" feature and the Pattern tool.

I have no problem making patterns, my problem is really APPLYING them. Like the sheets i am working with is 8.5 x 11 " x 300dpi which almost means nothing in AI. Really I can figure out everything but how do i fill the page with this pattern that i have saved....

Your help will be much appreciated, I know i am like 1 or 2 steps away from success.

Thanks If you want to see the glass we are doing ill post it if i have ability.

Thank you.

Hi folks,

I have many objects on my board.

Nothing is selected.

At this point, I want to select ANY object. Any one.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to select an object, a layer, anything from the point where nothing is selected yet?

The reason why is because the keyboard shortcut to "Select Next Layer Above", or "Select next layer below" would be the next keyboard shortcut to use. But I can't use them without selecting an object first.

Yes, I know I can use the mouse. But I love keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks!

Hi all:

Im wondering if anyone knows how to do the following in some type of program that can export/import into Illustrator CS6.

I have say, a rectangular path/box that is 6.5x2.4", 0.001" stroke. I have the same type of path/objects/parts that I need to fit into the box the most efficient way possible. I then use this path to drive a laser cutter, to cut the parts.

I have seen the auto industry use some type of algorithm/ program to scan cowhides, then arrange the upholstery in a way that is most efficient. Im looking for something similar to that, other than I will tell it what the box size is, and the part is all the same. I do not think this is natively possible in .ai, but if their is a program out that I can export/import to, that is what Im looking for.

Thanks for the help,
-Clayton

*I may cross-post in other forums, im tired of arranging parts by hand.*

Thanks again.

I choose the Type on a Path , or Vertical Type on a Path tool, and I start to type. All fine. Now, I've typed too much and the "+" sign appears in a little box telling me I have too much text for the line itself.

I want to extend the line to add more text, in other words, I want more space and/or more line to hold the overspill. This could also apply to the situation where I return later and want to extend the line and type some more.

Easy enough to extend the line, but for some reason typing does not produce more text. Moving the bracket only moves the text, it doesn't give me more room.

How to create more room on the line to handle the overspill?

Thanks!
