Photoshop Tutorial: The Layers Palette featuring Na'vi from Avatar

The Photoshop Guru of them all - Deke McClelland - explains why the Layers Panel is so important in Photoshop. (Btw - he still call them Palettes, but it's the same)
The added benefit here is that you get a good hint on how to create a Neytiri-looking Na'vi from a fairly regular stockphoto. Something currently very popular to do.
Many have tried - few have succeeded this well.

And just to kind of prove the point, my very good friend and collegue here in Sweden - Cindy Grundsten - tried her hand at doing a Na'vi after watching the video.
Thing is, she's not that good at English and she's using Photoshop CS3 - Swedish version.
Still she came up with this:
