    2d Animation Stuff

Well seeing how it's been soooo..... quiet around here lately wanted to bring this subject up as I've be playing around with some animation stuff as of late mostly using Photoshop with After Effects.

Tried using Toon Boom Studio Express that came on Magazine C.D. but really haven't been able to get into using it much. Also been trying Bauhause Mirage , it's kinda like a cross between Painter and After Effects and the learning curve hasn't been too bad so far.

So if anyone is interested in this topic and would like to explore it further...

Oooo yes, sounds a very interesting topic indeed. I've been using 2D animation for a reacent school project. We're making a vocal warm-up/singing/teaching vid for younger kids. Teaching it, we will have two animated men. If you've ever seen the Guiness beer comercials, then you'll know how it will basicly look. We've just completed most of the graphics we will be using, then we asembled them, and imported to Motion 2. Now the fun begins.....ANIMATING! Ahhhhhh! No, it's fun, just really time consuming. [confused] Anyway, I also use After Effects, Final Cut Pro, PS, IR, DVD Studio, Soundtrack Pro, Motion,.....yeah, I think thats all.
It took me all my life to get where I am now.

Well glad to see there's some interest in animation here.

Been working on a space scene and struggling to get my exploding nebula to look o.k. and after a bit of trial and error finally realized that the alpha channel created in Photoshop was why playback in After Effects wasn't smooth when applying the scatterize effect... duh! Still needs some tweeking but am getting close.

Anyway here's a link for an open source compositor (haven't installed it myself yet...)

Toon Boom Studio 5 is a 2D animation software ideal for students and hobbyists looking for an easy-to-use, multi-technique animation program.

Several design agencies have jumped on the band wagon promising 2D to 3D conversions. Beware: most of these conversions are mere flat cut-outs that are shifted to create an illusion of 3D and do not have the roundness and depth inherent in realistic 3D images
