Elliptical marquee tool.

I am using Photoshop. Using an elliptical marquee tool, I need an ellipse that is TILTED in an angle. I mean, if a horizontal line is drawn, the major axis of the ellipse should not be parallel to the line, but should be making an angle. In other words, I want to select the ears of a rabbit that are at a 45 degree angles to a vertical line drawn between them.

Any ideas, people?

No problem. Make elliptical selection, go to Select->Transform Selection and transform it any way you like.

I was trying to follow it, and then I used Transform selection for the left ear, tilting an ellipse. To create a symmetrical right ear, I saved the selection, then used Transform Selection once again, flipped it horizontally, then loaded the saved selection, making sure to check 'add to selection' - and thus got two ears with marching ants.

Now, I realised that they are too close. Now, to get them apart, do I have to
1) Select 'substract from selection', cut the right ear out,
2) flip the left ear like first time,
3) guesstimate, taking chances, hoping the right ear is the right distance this time
4) select 'add to selection' and load the saved selection to get two ellipses with marching ants.

Am I doing it the easy way, or is there any other easier method to do this?

Just don't get it. What's the problem? Do the selections one by one, then combine them together.

Make selection for left ear.
Make separate selection for right one, place and transform it as needed.
Merge two selections to one.

Why make it the hard way?

While combining the selections, I would not be able to see both the selections one beside the other. And, once combined when I see both the selections together and I realise they are too close or too far, it is already a tedious process to alter distance between them.

You see when the author said in step 2 to draw two ellipses for the ears? How do you think he did it?

Make selection for left ear.
Make separate selection for right one, place and transform it as needed.
Merge two selections to one.

When I do transformation after combining the selections, I can no longer transform the individual tilted ellipses. Probably you were thinking that I was selecting an image - I am making selections, so that I can Stroke the selection path and draw.

Just let's make it clear what we are talking about: in your link Photoshop Nerds : Photoshop Tutorials Blog Archive Drawing a Cartoon Bunny they make shapes - not selections. And the tool the use is Ellipse shape tool - NOT Elliptical marquee tool you started this thread about. And this is just the other story around.

As for shapes, it's pretty straight and all by the book: add individual paths for the shape; move and transform them any way you like and anytime you like.
