Is there ever a time when you may need to go that high?? I can see if maybe it was like a poster or something maybe?? Hell i dunno, i just got into this printing stuff a month ago and so far have only done business cards...

If you are using a printer that can print at 600dpi and you want the absolute best quality possible (usually for a smaller print size document with a high level of detail) then that would be the time to use it. In most cases 300dpi is plenty.

I have no experience with large graphics but that's what I've always heard, 100 to 150 dip, even smaller when you get to billboard size stuff.

Yea, it makes sense... I mean hell if you have ever looked at a bill board up close you can see all the little dots...
