Can't open photoshop!!!

While recently using my photoshop CS program, my computer crashed. When trying to open photoshop back up, the program locks up and the registration box in middle and tool box (upper left) turn all white. The hour glass symbol pops up and the Adobe Photoshop in the top left corner says (not responding).

I've tried closing and re-opening program, re-starting computer, but I can't get program to open. I have a PC and use Windows XP. Help!!!

sounds like windows is trying to recover the programs open when it crashed not sure if this is true of xp though do the ctrl + alt + del start task manager and end all processes of adobe then try to relaunch the program from the actual app not shortcut c:proagram files> adobe> photoshop if that fails then reinsert the cs5 disc and do a repair install I have heard about this error on another forum and turns out adobe has disabled its products on their system through an update due to it not being a legit copy and downloaded illegally

Have you tried a system restore or starting windows using Last Known Good Configuration?
This works for XP and Vista.

Try disabling the startup programs or starting in Safe Mode.

Thanks for the advice Hoogleman! I was able to open photoshop after running task manager and relaunching. Thanks also, Steve. I'll archive this info for future use, God forbid.
