News: Adobe to Offer CS6 Upgrade Discount for CS5 Versions Only

I guess they better make CS6 an exciting release to pull this off, but knowing Adobe's past I'm pretty sure that also CS6 won't have a lot of people jumping in their seat. Heck, if you would ask me about the differences between CS4 and CS5 I would have to think really hard.

Yeah I agree.
I went from CS3 to CS5 and 95% of what I use the most is the same.

The problem is now you need to upgrade every time or every 3 to 4 times to financially break even.
It seems over the top to me.

I think Adobe will regret this policy.

They have to do something to stop piracy though, as for 'giant leaps' in new ideas etc, only time will tell?

well if the pirate version you see on youtube is anything to go by the only thing I can see different is they have made the interface more like elements in colour darker which could be nice. As long as you have the option to customise the actual work space background, as dark backgrounds will play tricks on your eyes with certain images. and the only other difference is they have added more blur features in the blur filters making it more like Alien skins Bokah plugin but you cant always believe everything you see on youtube and I dount that is anywhere near the finished product.

But Like Steve says it may work out cheaper to upgrade rather than skipping 1 I have been watching the Adobe release notes and videos they are in the process of incorporating really strong and awesome tools but I doubt they will come out in cs6

I think iDad posted a video about the blur correction from camera shake.
I have seen auto layer masking letting you weave layers etc but this is all still a long way of being ready in cs6 however may be a plugin available on adobe labs later on in the year like pixel bender which is an awesome plugin why it wasnt vailable as a standard install I dont know it has been around a while. Maybe Adobe are loosing so much money on the pirate scene they may be charging for add ons but that is only rumour.

I watched a few video's on Dw CS5.5 and there are some features about it that I like, but nothing to where I would upgrade to it. I'm in a precarious position because I have Master Collection CS5. So to upgrade, I would have to be especially "turned on" to spend the kind of money that Master Collection CS6 would cost provided there's even such a product. For now though I'm quite happy with my tools. They do what I need them to do and I'm no where near mastering any one of them. From a business standpoint, I don't think Adobe wants anyone to master a handful of its applications. It's easier to convince people that they need the "new and improved" whatever in order to keep collecting money.

I believe that the new pplicy of Adobe (only upgrage to CS6 from CS5) is off already. They will keep their old policy (to allow upgrade from three versions back).

I think it's wise that they did that.
I mentioned that in Message #17
