Looking for a tutorial

Please be gentle I am a novice hobbyist... I will try and describe what i am trying to do best as I can.. I am hoping someone can point me to a tut that will show how.
I have a picture.. happens to be of an angel.. I want to transform it to appear as if she is invisible... however sparks from a point in front of her are enveloping her showing her form ... is that detailed enough.. .hope to hear back and thanks in advance..

If you want your angel to be translucent, one of these tutorials could work for you.The sparks could be done on the top layer of the person using a displacement map (under filters). This would cause the sparks to follow the contours of the map, ie: the angel. If the angel is in profile, the opposite side sparks would be on a lower layer and you may have to creat the contours yourself.. If you use a displacement map, you will need another tutorial for that. Can you post your image?
