Explosions
This is a new explosion effect I've been working on. I think it's pretty rad. I need to practice it more coz it's new to me but I'm freaking stoked anyway.
I'm thinking it would look sweet if I blew up a car with this or maybe derailed a train.

Re: Explosions
Thanks for the compliments guys!
Can you give me a bit of feedback? I want to know if you can tell that the explosion was made from scratch and what gave it away?

That is really cool, but of course you can tell that it was made from scratch, (though that is a good thing) because of the wood and the nails.

Thanks for letting me know.
Those boards probably do need a bit more work but I was making this for a video tutorial so I had to rush it. What can you do, ya know?

Re: Explosions
Maybe you should also put a little bit of black stuff on the ground or something? When you see pictures from explosions there is usually some black burnt spot where the thing has gone off (I think)

Re: Explosions
Nice shopping mate, how about some burning fence or even the building? And lots more debris all over the place.

Re: Explosions
Aside from the boards and nails, the big thing for me that makes it look "home made" is that there is no charring. The explosion itself is excellent, but it looks like it doesn't quite belong there because everything else in the picture is untouched.
Take a look at pictures of real explosions and fires that close to a structure and you'll see what I mean.

Yes! "Charring" that was the word I was looking for instead of "Black stuff" lol!
