Try this out with your camera

We were messing around putting bulb mode on as the shutter release
then getting an egg whisk (metal) and stuffing it with wire wool attaching it to a metal lead\chain and swinging it like crazy under a bridge.
It drew so much attention that we soon got a crowd watching us as it really is spectacular to watch.

This first image I had to use an off camera flash to freeze my friend at the begining and then I ran into the picture and did the sarks throwing with the whisk on a lead behind him, The only problem is there is a light trail where you can see me walking with the whisk on fire but as it is in bulb mode you cant see me so it looks cool.

And then if you shoot in Raw format and have a play around in raw and photoshop you can change the colours and make some cool images.

These were a test but hopefully next weekend we are going out with a big group of us with torches laser lights etc to make some cool scenes. remember to wear black though.

    Camera settings

    Iso 100 -200
white balance set to tungsten but you can adjust this in processing
    vivid colour settings
manual mode using bulb or a long exposure
    f8 to f11

You will need to have someone stand there with a light to focus on your action zone then switch your camera to manual focus once you are happy with the composition. Use a tripod and turn of image stabilisation.

here are some other mess arounds we did.

with some colour change in photoshop

Please remember if you try this to be safe and do not do it anywhere near anything that can catch on fire as you can see sparks fly everywhere. PS use fine wire wool

re: TRY THIS OUT WITH YOUR CAMERA

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a flame proof Softbox as I would like to get 1 in for a nice light but if 1 of those sparks hits it then it will go whoompth and be no longer.

I am looking at getting a cheap 1 on ebay but feel that could be even more dangerous. I may look at just getting a reflector dish just to soften the light a bit. Oh and put on some colour Gels.
