Photoshopping Terragen created images?
I'm happy that your crystal ball helped you to know who I am, that you checked out the Terragen gallery or forums at Renderosity to find all the answers. I'm also happy that you proved me wrong and that you can make huge corrections with a photograph but that you can't do this with a terragen image. I'm also happy that you discovered that you didn't wrote "There is nothing much you can do with it in photoshop" and that this whole discussion was off-topic because Reverend wrote "I'm at a loss for ways to tweak my scenic images to look even more.. well.. scenic, and realistic.".
Oh well, I guess discussions are also a form of art!

Sorry, that was me, forgot to log on :\
Btw, about your link Sergiy: http://www.photoshopgurus.info/forum...pic.php?t=4942
Wasn't it you who wrote "You know, if i was someone else and i didn`t use terragen or didn`t know about it. I would never understood what was wrong with that picture".
Now isn't that a contradiction, because you said earlier "But, There is nothing much you can do with Terragen in Photoshop."
Have a nice day! 8))

"Crystal ball" is that a new way to describe peoples characteristics? Who-o-o [shhh] looks like it has a big sense of humor or deep uncovered marale.
Wasn't it you who wrote "You know, if i was someone else and i didn`t use terragen or didn`t know about it. I would never understood what was wrong with that picture"
Yes it was me... and it also was me, who wrote "Quote: how often do you using a Terragen with Photoshop:? if you ever did?" and i didn`t get no response. I`m not trying to start again, i just canno`t understand what kind of game you playing by posting the last reply?
One more,
I wouldn`t call it a Contradiction. Because it is the only picture i have ever done in Terragen than Edited in Photoshop. But i guess you right... or atleast you have a right point.
Good Luck

Photoshopping Terragen created images?
Hey fellas... please don't hyjack this thread ok? Thx.
As to the original question Reverend asked, i've done one specific image that was later "enhanced" in PS. I needed to add elements to the image that Terragen can't yet do itself.
Here's the original image and the final modified version, and a brief explanation of what was added to it in PS. Hope this can help give you a few ideas.
POST WORK:
Basic 3D scene created with Terragen. Model created by hand and photographed. Photos of a finger & some people inserted. All else in the image done from scratch using Photoshop: rain, shoreline waves, splashes, fog, colour touch-ups/enhancements, etc.

Reverend, there are several ways to improve an image

things like fog and glow
copy/paste mountains that are resized and blurred to create depth. Clipping masks on skies are great for positioning mountains in the background. You can combine parts of multiple images, as long as the light is the same (angle, intensity, color, etc)
hand painting rocks, stones (not as difficult as it seems). Make a few different ones, copy/paste, resize or make a stone brush to scatter them.
creating your own textures that you blend over certain areas. Correct blending preserves lighting and shadows.
use blended gradients with or without masks
control saturation, brightness (use masks)
use cloud brushes (I use a set called nagel series 11) to create clouds
use brushes to create the illusion of foliage. Check the internet for some good brushes, experiment with them on a grey canvas
use clone or healing brush to fix or add areas of interest
adding a convincing shoreline with waves, foam and/or splashes
adding things like birds flying in a distance, stars, rainbow, rain, quite easy to do in PS
rays of light. Is possible, but takes some practice before they look convincing[/list:u]One important thing; always keep a good eye on light & shadows. Make also good use of blending, opacity, contrast, etc. The magic wand is a good tool to select darker or lighter areas. Use it to make corrections or to create masks. Soften your masks, feather when necessary, don't be afraid to use filters on masks, save your selections as channels (saves you a lot of work in some cases). Of course you can always add parts of photographs or 3d models.
I've done a lot of post work on Vue d'Esprit images and I used that experience to grab a gray image of a Terragen mountain without any textures and took it in Photoshop. I could have added texture/color it in Terragen, but I wanted to show what can be done in PS.
I could show you a better example with Vue d'Esprit, but I can't post that image, because it's going to be part of a challenge and one of their rules is that I can't post it anywhere else.
Attached is the final result. It's a quick one, but you get an idea what is possible.
The more experienced Terragen artists can go even further than what I show in this example. What is possible has a lot to do with the artist and not the tool. Photoshop is a great tool and it's sad that some people still don't see its true potential in the right hands.

i would like to add something, which may help you to do the hop faster:
-open Terragen
-adjust the first exposure settings (like in the Tutorial)
-THEN under the Menu "windows" -> QTVR Tools -> Settings
(button leftside) -> hot air balloon gift voucher Keep individual Frames
- then Render the Cubic panorama and when it finished, you will have the
.mov and the 6 images for the first Expsure settings.
that's it, but i'm not sure Dish Network Deals if the QTVR setting are also in the non-registered Version of Terragen available. with this method you save a much of time.
