3d widget/axis or 3d tools.
hello everyone.
just a bit of advice if you dont mind.
to position a 3d object or shape would you use the widget or the 3d tools.
everytime i create a shape, for example a square, when i want to get it into postion the ends are longer/shorter or slanted and not square. its diffucult (for me) to get it resting flat on a seperate flat surface layer.
im using the axis or the camera tools and the object rotate tools also the position, front.left, top and custom object etc to try and get it straight.
thank you............phil.

Hi scouser....
It takes a bit of practice with the rotate the mesh tool....
drag left it goes right, drag up it goes down.... lol...
But when you get used to it, you can get it right.

Extra tip.... takes a bit of intuition which way the object goes when dragged. click drag in the corner goes one way.... on the sides another way.... center another way. You'll have to experiment to get it right.
Don't forget the other move tools most especially the 4th one.... it will get your object flat on the floor in your POV.....

I'll give you points for tenacity and patience that's for sure..... lol....
If you think that's rough in PS, try a real 3d program.... rigging, posing and all.... I've lost a lot of hair from pulling in frustration.... lol....

Re: 3d widget/axis or 3d tools.
When you hover on the control points in the axis tool it turns yellow to indicate what is active, then click and drag.
Understanding the exact way that the object will move depends on the objects position, which is indicated by the axis tool's position. But you need to think in 3 dimensions.
In the 1st example I posted: since the red & green axis are at an angle, the left/right movement would also be at the same angle (front to back). If the red was at an exact 180° (2nd picture), then the left/right movement would be straight across left or right, while the green would be back to front (90° to the red).
As the blue axis is at 90° in both examples the up/down movement would be straight up or down.
Maybe you knew all this already, but it might help out those who don't.
