I recently signed up for a PS class to learn some basics, but my friend who normally helps me with requests is out of the country for a semester and I'm lost in the meantime! Was hoping somebody could help me out with a couple pictures for a friend's baby shower..
The pictures with the blocks, we just want the "I" block changed to yellow so there's a sequence...
The pictures with the wooden heart...we wanted it pink with "We <3 You Kaliah" written on it in almost child-like handwriting.
If anyone can help me or teach me how to do this I'd be extremely grateful. I hate being photoshop-dumb :(
These are very simple, very basic things you want to do. Both involve making selections and substituting color. Click inside the white heart with the quick selection tool, even the magic wand will do. Zoom in and clean up the edges. I used the quick selection on minus for part of this, then grabbed the marquee tool and added/subtracted the finer details. Make an adjustment using hue/saturation (image>adjustment or layer>new adjustment layer): click the box that says colorize and fiddle with the sliders, find the right hue, increase the sat a bit, lower the brightness (just play with the variations). Hue/sat adjustment is probably the easiest. Do the same thing for the letter I. It is a lot less precise to use the quick select when you get down to minimal pixels. I would suggest either color range or the polygonal lasso tool, and recommend the lasso for quick, clean, and easy. As for the printing, my suggestion is to draw it out, scan or photograph it, then transform it to a size to fit the hearts. Hope this helps. Cheers and good luck. Let me/us know if you need more explanation.
PS: if you're going to be in a PhotoShop class, the first thing you should be learning is selections, and this project of yours is all about selection. So you'll have a jump on the first day!
Ok simple way with the letter colour change use the square marquee tool and draw a selection around the block then go to select colour range and click the I on the black adjust fuzziness so it is clear black and white in the mask click ok then create a new layer and sample the yellow from other yellow block and paint in the colour as it is selected it will only change the coloured letters and borders. then maybe adjust the layer opacity you will get this kind of effect
For the heart repeat as in last stage but choose a pink
I then applied a default heart custom shape in the blue and used a font called childs play for this effect
wow thanks that was a huge help because i couldn't get the yellow to match the "K" and also I don't have that handwriting option. I have photoshop elements 8 :( That looks a lot better than what I was doing hahah.
the handwriting is only a font so when you search childs play font on google you should get 100s just download and install it as a normal font then it will be available for photoshop
