tutorial for curved menu?
I would like to make a menu that looks like it's curved at both ends by using the shape below the menu with the gausian blur, etc. Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial for this? I've been hunting around and I can't find it anywhere. I'm just trying to create an effect like:
weblounge(dot)be
Thanks...

Re: tutorial for curved menu?
I guess I wasn't clear enough...that's a tutorial for a curled page whereas I'm trying to find one where the ends of a horizontal menu look like there just bending up slightly. I've done the effect myself by making a dark grey rectangle and then using the gausian blur on it and then rotating it slightly, and putting it behind the menu, but I thought there might be a better way.

What you have put is still open to interpretation. You will need to post a few more times in other thread to get to ten posts, then you can post a picture of what you mean.

Re: tutorial for curved menu?
Here's a tutorial that you can follow as this is not hard to do. Just be sure to follow each step to the letter and you'll be fine. I should just put a tutorial on this on my website, but since I like to help others here I am.
1. Open Photoshop
2. Create a New File
3. In the dialog box that opens, enter the Width and Height dimensions you want to use. Click "Ok"
4. Select the "Background Layer" and change the color. You only have to do this if you want your image something other than white.
5. Now create a new layer by clicking on Layer > New Layer
6. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool. If you can't find it, press the U key on your keyboard to get to the Shape Tools Group. You may have to hover your mouse over the Shape Tool that is selected and hold down the Left Mouse Button to access the Hidden Tools.
7. With the Rounded Rectangle Tool selected, look up near the top left of your screen. There will be a control panel that opens up. Set the Rounded Rectangle Tool to be Fill Pixels. Change the Radius to 10 pixels.
8. Draw out your shape.
9. Now select the Elliptical Selection Tool and make a selection over your shape at the TOP OF THE SHAPE. Be sure to have the Selection partially over the top of your shape.
10. Press Delete
11. Now click on Select > Transform Selection and either using your mouse or your keyboard arrow keys, move the selection to the bottom of the shape wherever you want it. Press Delete again. Then press Ctrl and the D key to deselect.
We're almost done here
12. Double click on your shape layer, the Layer Styles dialog box opens.
13. Select the Drop Shadow option from the list.
14. Enter these settings for all the relevant choices:
Blend Mode: Normal
Radius: 90
Opacity 36%
Distance: 8px
Spread: 26%
Size: 10px
You're done

Re: tutorial for curved menu?
Hi SpruceMagoo1. I actually put a link to the effect in the first post, but because I couldn't post a link because I hadn't posted here enough, I had to write it with the '.' spelled out with (dot). If you go to the url: www(dot)weblounge(dot)be...you'll see what I'm talking about.

Re: tutorial for curved menu?
Sorry, never seen .be before.
Let me just start by saying, the Nivo slider that has the animated slide show is perfectly straight. The effect you are seeing is an optical illusion created by 2 curved shadows, directly under the slider, giving the illusion of the slider curing up at the end.
Here is the exact image used, as it is in a free web template:-

Hope this helps.
