    Question absolute beginer

    Hello,

I am new here and i mainly comfortable in back end web development and not in design stuff specialy using photoshop and now want to give a shot to photoshop (want to use it in web design). But i am confused where to start. There is alot of tutorials over net but they are problem specific. I am having trouble to implement it in my problem so i want resource or manual like things where i can start from the begining and gradualy move forward. I have a planed design in mind but having trouble to render it in photoshop. I had played around since yesterday and nothing so called improvment! is there any kind of resource?

    thanks in adavance!

    Welcome to PSGurus, birbal.

There's a lot to be learned here.

You have to give us a specific idea of what you plan to do so we can guide you on how to achieve it.

Its possible to draw/trace in PS. But for more control, you need a tablet.

Or perhaps you can isolate a selected part on an image and use that as a logo.

    CS3, oK.

Scan the drawing and open in PS. You can color the drawing , and do the rest of the logo directly in PS.

If it's slright with you, upload a pix of your drawing so we can see what we can do with it.

Hi Birbal, welcome to PSG. There is a lot to be learned here.

For me, the best thing is the community, helping each other and having fun. I have learned a lot here, but I think it's important to get the basics of Photoshop. We can't be much help beyond very specific tasks -- like making a logo -- unless we know that you'll understand the essential commands. Anyway, this is my opinion.

I belong to lynda.com for $25 a month. It is a stupendous site. You might consider taking a look around it and seeing how much is offered. The Intro courses are really good and there are a few of those. They are organized video classes. I recommend them.

But if we can guide you through this project, we will

If you have Illustrator, that's where you should design your logo.

In either case, open your scanned sketch, create a new layer below it, drop the opacity of your sketch layer to 50% or less, click on the empty bottom layer, and start drawing.

Brush tool allows free-hand drawing, but pen and shape tools will give you a more professional look.
