problems with inserting text
I am new to Photoshop and have a problem. I happily inserted text in about 60 photos. Suddenly, I was unable to do so. I have checked that I am using the Horizontal Type Tool, everything seems to be okay in terms of font style, size of font, and so forth. The only thing that seems to be different is that, when I click on the picture, I don't seem to get the same light vertical line as a starting point. All I get is a small black square. Help! JimFRose

Re: problems with inserting text
Thanks for your help, idad. I don't know how else to describe the dot. When I click on the picture, I get a small, black, square dot much like a period. When I try further to type, I get a tiny triangle and a small cross. The problem has become more nuanced. I now understand that I can add text to scanned photos, but not to ones taken with my camera. This is the case no matter what file type I use.

Re: problems with inserting text
I think the problem has to do with the fact that my layers seem to be locked. However, I can't figure out how to unlock them.

Have you changed your font to a windings style font that is shapes only.

Re: problems with inserting text
Gee, I don't think so. I am using Times New Roman, Regular, 12 pt., antil aliased, there is nothing special in the Ts section, auto, red, with a style box with a line through it. I am wondering if it might have to do with locked layers, but I don't know.

I require to be at the base of the cell aligned with the base of the text in the column opposite.

I'm sorry, Surmawarma, I don't understand your comment. I click on the 'T' icon in the left panel; then, I click on the area in the picture where I would like to start my text. When I am using a scanned image, I can then enter text. When I use one of the images taken by my camera, I click where I would like to start the text, but cannot enter anything.
I don't understand the idea of being at the base of the cell aligned with other things. There is no cell, really. I am just in a picture.
Thanks for your help, though.
