Crisp & Sharp Outlines

I make textures for a game called "Grand Theft Auto San Andreas" and I have a problem that has plagued me since day one. Creating nice and sharp outlines for text or anything else.

This is what I want it to look like:

(see Attatchments) *Can't post images yet sorry *file name* "ss (2014-04-18 at 09.17.59)"

This is what turns out:

No matter what method I use it comes out round. Above the blue line I used a simple stroke. Below the blue line I made a copy of the text and rasterized it. I duplicated it again and nudged it to the left. Made a duplicate and nudged it to the top, right and bottom (Repeat cycle) and it turns out round.

Do I need a different program for this? Or am I missing a technique?

Not sure where your looking, the font chosen has rounded corners?

Here's what the Op is referring to MIke....

The OP wants sharp corners not rounded ones.

When using a stroke, set the the stroke position to inside.

Here's another way to cheat it.

Create your text.
Lets say you want your overall text size including the stroke, to be 165pt.
So make your text 165pt.

Also make this text the color of the stroke you desire, here I have chosen red.

Create a new layer above the text. Highlight the new layer.
Command/Control + Click the Text thumbnail to make a selection of the text.
Go to SELECT > MODIFY > CONTRACT. Enter 5 pixels, hit OK.

Fill the selection with black.
Hit Command/Control + D to deselect.
