    Saving transparent GIF for website

    Hi there,

Ive tried a number of options but can not get the logo on my website to look decent. Its all jaggered and horrible. I have saved it as a transparent GIF and tried many options.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

    M

Save it as PNG-24 with transparency.

If you're worried about IE6 transparency issues...don't. There are a lot of IE6 transparent fixes available.

If your logo is being positioned over a colored background, then you have to save it under File>Save For Web. Then you have to set the matte color to the color of the background that the logo is going on top of. This will fill in the edges of the logo with the background color. Then click on Save. It will be a transparent .gif. Then when you view the logo on your website, the fill-in pixels will be invisible, and edges will appear smooth.

These hacks are not ideal and are tricky to use.

IIRC checking the box for "interlaced" in Save For Web will make it transparent.

The problem is probably the edges if its all jagged. Try editing the image by smoothing out the corners and such. see if that helps. Make sure to save a back-up file in case things go wrong.
