I think the functionality of the site is great, meaning that the way you have it laid out and offered to your visitors. I agree that the site looks like it should be for a stern business. I believe that if you add more eye grabbing images it might be more pleasing to the eye.

The pen tool animation is great. I like the logo, and though the boxes at the bottom look like merchandising, they are well-done. But I totally agree with those who say it looks too conservative, like a financial site or product sales. My first impression was that you were selling jewelry! The little slide show, when it gets to the text, like the 6 hour minimum turn-around (which I personally would not advertise), clicks by too fast to read it all. This is potentially annoying and the last thing you want to do to prospective clients is annoy them before they even contact you. I'm not sure what I would recommend for the layout as this is not my design strength but I am sure you will get replies to that effect soon. Cheers, Clare
