3D Comparaison PS 3D and Blender

Last week I posted a 3D work made in PS called 'Perpetuum'.

I was curious how it would look in Blender.
So I exported the PS 3D file into a .DAE file and imported it in Blender. I had to 'texturise' all the part with the textures that came with the DAE file and give it some new background.

The first file is PS 3D and the second one Blender.
There's no doubt that Blender creates a more realistic end result.

Thanks for the comparison. The Blender version is too dark, otherwise it's better.

Indeed Sam, it is a bit too dark. I'll correct that.

Great...the Blender version looks way better than the PS version.

Just one ring don't look as glossy as the other ones?

Well observed Chris!

When importing a *.dae file into Blender it comes with the textures in the file but not applied.
You have to apply the 'texture' to each object. I texturised the object at will and tested some shaders.
In this case there were 39 objects and I applied diffuse instead of glossy on that ring.
I saw it when it was fully rendered (6 min) and since it was only a test I didn't feel to correct it in Blender so...

And I made a promise that I would make that 'perpetuum' in Blender without importing it from PS.
So here's the 'perpetuum' pure Blender

Note: at this stage I wasn't ready for bending cylinders so...

Excellent!

Now you just need to animate it.
