Self-Portrait With Light Beams :)

I've always loved those nature shots with light coming through the trees. So I attempted a self-portrait that utilizes that. Tell me what you all think!

I was aiming for an unrealistic lighting on this, just so you know! :)
 
I like the dynamic of this photoshop, very nicely done.
 
Two comments:

a) The light beams would be more visible and dramatic if you started with an image that had a much darker, lower contrast background. Against a background with very bright and very dark areas and lots of texture/detail, they tend to get lost.

b) It's just my personal opinion, but I'm not a fan of obvious effects (eg, the cross processing effect you used) unless it has a real purpose in the image, or a purpose in a series of images by the artist.
