OK, I'm not at all familiar with whom your emulating with your character, but this thing (or mask) on it's face needs a bit of fine tuning, otherwise the rest of the character looks great. The colorization looks great as well. I'm not sure what process you used but it turned out well. You might consider working on white paper in the future, this will help when scanned or photographed.

The second image is drawn well and the colorization is great! However, I'm not a huge fan of the background at all! The two do not work well together. Sadly, I don't have any suggestions as to what BG might work with the colorized drawing..............for me it would be a matter of experimentation. Sorry.

Thanks! i enjoyed your criticism!

As to your first critique, yes, it is a mask. yeah it sure does need some fine tuning. I drew it by hand and just took a photo of it. I dont have a scanner right now so im just doing it this way. I use drawing paper so it is kind of off white already but also a better lighting could help im sure.

The second image with the weird BG, I agree, i was experimenting exactly as you mentioned it. i was just trying to blend the 2 things together. ive gotten mixed feelings on the background but character is good. Maybe if the whole plain show and there was only half a planet.

Thank you for your critique!

oh, and for the coloring on the first pic, i just used the paint bucket and just liquified the shirt and experimenting with renders. And the color of the shirt is the actual color of the drawing paper, i thought it was a neat color when everything else was taken out. you can kind of see the distortion the liquifying did to the fibers in the paper on the shirt

Hi Chad
I like your drawings very much, and it's ok to take a foto of it if you haven't got a scanner.
In the following steps I would like to show you how get a "cleaner result". This is important if you want to make prints of it.

1. Use your biggest size of the image and clean it with the curve tool.

1.jpg

2. Make a duplicate of it and set the blending mode to multiply. This layer must always be at the top of your layer stack.
3. Deactivate the background layer.
4. Make a new layer for each color. Use the quick selection tool or the magic wand tool to get your selection. Enlarge it by 3 pixel , then fill it with color.

2.jpg Layers without the black outline.

3.jpg Layers with the black outline.

When you are finished with the coloring, you can always add some more details to your image with brushes or patterns.

Regards Chris.
