How does one selectively fill only a rectangular part of an image with a color?

hi
here i try to fill rectangle with blue color but when i fill it blue color appear on whole but i want to fill only rectangle box

here is the pic

Looks like the Pen Tool, but what tool are you using?

If you are using the Pen Tool, once you have drawn your path, right click and choose 'make a selection'.

This will create the marching ant selection.....

Then fill with blue.

You can also use the Rectangular Marqee tool with guide lines. Easier than pen tool procedure.

Be it pen or shape tool, make sure to select SHAPE and choose FILL COLOR in the tool's Settings.....

Take note..... when using the pen tool, the fill will appear when you create the 3rd anchor point. Continue on and close the shape by clicking the first anchor created.
