All of a sudden I am missing the "apply" box that needs to be clicked in order to set my editing. I reset my workplace but it's still missing. How can I fix this?
Thanks

Try resetting the preferences file.
It cures a lot of strange behavior in PS.

Start Photoshop and immediately hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)
or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).

Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

Well thank goodness I didn't have to try that. (sounded scary to me )
I turned it off for awhile and when I turned it back on, the apply box started showing up again.

Thank you and I will keep this advice for future problems.

I'm glad you worked it out.
Resetting your preferences file isn't all that scary actually and it fixes a lot of problems.

All it does is reset all preferences back to factory default.
In my case keyboard shortcut R used to get you to Blur, Sharpen and Smudge tools.

In CS6 it gets you to Rotate the image,

I just changed it back to the Blur, Sharpen and Smudge tools.
That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about.
