Hey guys,
I have PS elements
I'm trying to make the edges of this sun picture transparent.
It has a nice yellow gradient but the problem is it cuts off at the edges so I looks unnatural when I add it to another picture.
How can I soften the edges so that the sun ray doesn't appear as cut off?

Also how can I remove that purple lens flare?

When the sun image was extracted from it's original image, there was an obvious sharp border as seen below.

You have to use Free transform on the sun layer to make it fit to the image your applying to.

Otherwise, you would have to use a layer mask to blend the edges.
Which will look bad.

As far as removing the lens flare, you would be better off extracting a new transparent sun image from a photos that has no lens flare.

You just apply a layer mask to the "sun" layer and use the Brush Tool (on the layer mask) to mask out the hard edges.
