create faded colour overlay?

I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm trying to create a colour overlay exactly like the attached image using photoshop

How do i do this?

Hello and welcome to PSG.

Do you have larger examples? These images are awfully small.

Here's one way.

Open you image.
Create a new SOLID COLOR FILL LAYER in the color you desire.

Now you have two choices:
One.
Set the SCFL's belnding mode to "Hard Light" (or another blending mode if it's better).
You may need to add another SCFL set to white and lower the opacity.
Two.
Lower the SCFL's opacity
Again, you may need to add another SCFL set to white and lower the opacity.

You can use a gradient on the white SCFL-layers mask if you wish one side to be lighter than the other.
