Vectorizing Photo

Hello there.

I'm doing a vector with Pen Tool in PS to my girl, I'm still adding shadows and highlights to the skin, and needs to start the hair.
Since the photo is in low resolution, I'm having much trouble with finding the right edges, and doing everything OK.

Any tips how to finish it faster, and any tips how may I do the hair would be much appreciated. ;)

Some folks like to use filters on the original image to develop/separate planes in order to help with outlining using the Pen Tool.

........like the Cutout filter....

I think your doing just fine the way you are! Keep that up!
 
Thanks for the ide Sam.
I did know that, and I used another idea to help me separate that, but I liked the ones you posted, helped me with the cheek shadows.

My major issue here is the hair.
