I am a novice on Photoshop. I have often used the Clone Stamp.
Today the tool has a grey color on it from a previous action I took
and I don't know how to clear it and start fresh on a new photo.
Help anyone?

Welcome, ellie.

Strange as that shouldn't happen if your using it on a new image document. PS will ask you to resample an area.

For most problems, try resetting your PS preference.....

A split second after launching PS, hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows)

or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS X).

Probably too late now but I would have tried resetting the tool first rather the whole of PS.

Regards.
MrTom.

In case not, to reset the tool- On the menu bar at the top where the tool icon shows, click the down pointing arrow. Then click on the little cog wheel and a drop down list will appear. Click "Reset Tool". Works for all PS tools.

Another way would be to right mouse click on the tool to get the context menu to reset....
