does the "Quick selection tool" behaves randomly?

hello, does the "Quick selection tool" behaves randomly? has it formula specified?? Can I dope this behavior before pressing the mouse?? Please see below:

You set the size of the tool (brush) then paint in the area (s) you want to select. If you get more than you want, hold the Alt key and it will subtract from the selection.

The Quick Select tool seeks edges. When a portion of your images does not have clearly
defined edges, the selection tends to be rather haphazard. Two adjacent similar colors
don't provide good edges for the tool.

The lowest selection on your image is probably the most accurate because there are
clear edges for the tool to find.
