I just landed a job as an event specialist. Basically I'll be engaging with customers and handing out samples. Trying to push sales will also be part of my job. I've done something similar in the past working as a cashier at Panera, so this should be a good job for me. I'll be working inside a local Wal-Mart. Only going to work about 20hrs a week, but the pay wont be too shabby. I just hope I don't screw up lol. It's going to be nice to finally be making money again.

Also, a hearty CONGRATS from me!!!! I'm sure you won't have any problems and you'll take to it like a duck to water.

Most of all, relax and have fun. When you are having fun, it will come across to your customers and they will respond even more.

Cheers,

Tom

I'm looking forward to this job for sure. I've been doing food industry jobs all my life so this will be simple. Trying to push sales is going to be a little tricky but it is some thing I can do. I've done it in the past working as a cashier for Panera Bread in the past. Me I'm a bit of a jokester some times. Think if I can get the customers in a good mood it might help push sales. Wont make much doing this, bout $650 a month after taxes but money is money and it gets me out of the house. I haven't worked in almost a year and I am going crazy. On a side not I just realized I've been on this site 2 years now, really doesn't feel like it's been that long. Where has the time gone?

Just did the final thing to make my new employment final. Had to do a background check and drug test. Guess they don't want people stealing samples they hand out for free lol. Oh well if it means I'll have a steady income again then I'll do as they ask.

Just got the best email. It told me that tomorrow is my official hire date for my new job. I think I'll find out soon when my actual start date is. Nearly a year to get a job. Actually my last day of work was October 23 2013 so it has been exactly a year.

Starting the training on the 25th, and orientation the same day. Not sure how or where I'm doing these things at, cause the email said not to go to the store but didn't offer any more info on that. This job comes with some nice perks. Such as discount on any 2014-15 GM vehicle except the Camaro Z-28 and Spark EV. Even with a discount it's still too expensive lol plus I'm not a fan of GM anyway. Discounts with CDW/DELL/Levano, At&t, Verizon wireless, a bunch of different theme parks such as Six Flags, Disney, Universal Studios and others. Discount on Delta Vacations. Plus things like health, dental, vision,401k.....The list goes on. I was already going to do the best I can, now I feel I have to amp that up.

Hi Andrew,
I can imagine how you feel, because I was also out of a job once for almost 2 years. When I finally landed my dream job, I could hardly believe my luck. But immediately I was nervous like hell, and very unsure of how I could possibly meet their demands.
A few days before I started the new job I developed a routine of repeating 3 short sentences over and over in my mind:

"I'm good, they choose me, I can do it."

On my first day on the new job I was relaxed, in control, poised and confident.
I wish you all the best and a good start on the 25th.

Regards Chris
