If you use Microsoft Windows make sure that you have the latest updates installed and that your security software is up to date

Hubby has us protected and backed info on all the computers on numerous sources just in case too. The virus hit our hospitals and doctor offices here really bad. They were warned over a week ago by a Microsoft to apply the new patch to protect them as they knew it was coming.....someone's head is gonna roll over this not being done

This is for all Windows users out there

First thing I'd recommended is installing a good Internet Security application, although Windows Defender Security Center is OK it's only mainstream.
Personally I use Kaspersky Total Security 2017, but there are others like Bitdefender Total Security and Comodo Internet Security Software.

Secondly and most importantly is backing up your data, a lot of people have their applications and data store on the C Drive and don't have a backup which is not ideal.
Here's a screenshot of my Hard Drives and Backups that I have, maybe OTT but at least I know I'll always have something to fall back on.

View attachment 74403

C Drive is only used for Windows and Applications, not data stored, D Drive which is online is for all my data and software
H Drive is again online and is used for backing up my D Drive, F drive is where I make images of my C Drive
Then I have offline backups highlighted in red, O and P are offline backups of my D Drive and Q is an offline of backup of my C Drive images

This may seem like OTT but in the unlikely event that my PC becomes infected I always have an offline backup, you have to remember that virus's, malware and ransonware can and will infect all hard drives on your PC so it's always a good plan to have an offline backup, just remember to update your backups on a regular basis and to keep them offline.

Here's some free software I'd recommend
Firstly for backing up and creating images of your hard drive

And for malware, adware and spyware all free
