Batch Automation How to Batch Create New Files Combining Two Layers

I would love to figure out how to batch process a folder and create new files combining two layers. Let me explain further.

  • I have a folder of images
  • I have one background image
  • I need to create new files in batch where
    • the image from the folder is placed, resized and centered on a new layer above the background image

Here's my use case. This is for an ecommerce store.

I have an image of a picture frame (the background image)

I have a ton of photographic images (in the folder) that need to appear framed.

So I need a script that can be adapted to multiple frames/background images.

The final result can be seen below.

Any help appreciated.

Here is a script and a short video on one way to do this.
First you create the template by selecting the area where the picture goes, creating a new layer, fill the selection, add a layer mask.
At this stage you can save your template for further use.
Next. Open Bridge and select the documents you want to batch.
Run the script.
The new files are created in a folder called Framed off the desktop.
