What techniques are there to create a geometric diamond pattern in Photoshop?

I cannot figure out how to go about making a pattern similar to this one:

I know it must be relatively simple but I cannot wrap my mind around creating a consistent repeating pattern. thanks!

In the interest of future inquiries, here's one way to do it.

Create a layer of colored rectangles using the Rectangular marquis Tool.
These colors are replicated for the demo, you should make them all different.

When your done.
Duplicate the layer.
Rotate the layer using free transform (Cmd/Cntrl + T)

Then set the layers blending mode to overlay or soft light.
