why am i getting this pattern effect

Hello,
i'm quite new at photoshop and today i opened it to practice a tutorial and i'm getting a weird pattern effect but i don't know why. I didn't create any settings to to get it.

I've included an image so you can see.
how can i remove this effect so i can get a solid color?

You have selected another brush if you go to your brush preset tab and select the top left 1 for a soft brush or the 1 next to it for a hard brush you will get it back to a normal brush

I recognised the brush they look the same in the preview window but you get a shock when actually painting I have done it when painting in a mask and couldnt work out why it was so weird lol. Well always nice to have simple problems....
