Hello

I would appreciate some advice on how to achieve the below:

I want to make a collage effect design by using a selection made from the Batman logo and then using it to cut the shape from images of various Batman comic strips

I am relatively new to Photoshop and finding it difficult to create this selection template

I managed to get the result I am looking for (see attached) but it took me ages and I can’t seem to do it again!

I am sure there is a quick and easy way to do this, any help would be welcome

Many thanks

See if this helps. Watch in full screen mode. Edit: I just realized that in the second example (1:28), it might be hard to understand that I used Command + Click on the black Batman symbol thumbnail to create a selection then I selected the all white layer and hit DELETE.

Start with the first layer, create or import the shape you want (I used the custom shapes tool for ease and speed) ensuring there is transparency around the shape.
Copy and paste the image you want to use to fill the shape onto a new layer.
While holding the Alt key carefully place your cursor between the two layers (you should see the cursor change to a box with an arrow pointing down.
Now press the left mouse button, the image on the upper layer should now fill the shape of the lower layer. If you want to reposition the image within the shape, select that layer and move, rescale it around. This also words if you want to use text as a 'Shape' on the lower layer too.

Here's a quick video I made to illustrate it. (excuse the image used, was on my clipboard at the time hehe)

Hope this helps my friend

I was surprised that you didn't beat me! Ah well, the more help the better!
