I want to change the color of these glasses to black

I haven't played around with photoshop in years but I'd like to get back into image manipulation. I want to change the color of the glasses to black. I want them to look like a regular black pair of ray bans wayfarers. I want it to look realistic. I also want to change the color of the lens along with the frame.


Please advise me on what to do. You don't have to get into complete basics for me but I will ask for more help if I have any further questions.

I'm actually looking to practice on my own, what steps would you recommend I take next to turn the glasses black?
 
Now your styling!

I used the Pen Tool to isolate the glasses and then filled with color.

IamSam i used the quick mask tool to separate it and played with the blend modes .Is it the correct way of doing it?
 
Zoe, once I had the glasses separated, I filled it with the color I desired. I also added some shading with the Brush tool. I was just experimenting.

The best way to do this is to isolate the glasses, add a Hue & Saturation adjustment layer clipped to the isolated glasses. Then select colorize and adjust the sliders to you liking. This technique provides a much nicer result.

The glasses and lenses look awful in the op's original image, either poor shopping or very poor shopping:mrgreen:
 
Easiest way to do that dude


Open the Image

Add another Layer

Press "B" for Brush and Select Black or Whatever color you like

Brush your Selected Area to change the color

And change your layer option from "Normal" to "Soft Light" or "Screen"

or

used Ctrl+ U to change the light or darkness for your taste

Ok so I added a new layer and traced around the glasses with the polygon lasso tool. Then I hit Shift + F5 and filled in the layer with black and changed the overlay of the layer to "Hue"


I don't mind that the frame isn't black, I just want it to be a neutral color.


It still looks a bit "photoshopped" especially around the lens area. Any idea on what I can do to improve that area a bit?

What I have in mind is kinda tricky but might do the work...

If that guy is you, find picture of you with the same profile shot to superimpose your eyes on the image behind a copy of the glass area of the shades. Lower the opacity of the glass layer just enough to see the eyes.

If you can replicate that area on the driver's glasses on the left side frame which looks semi transparent on your right outer frame glass may complete the look.

Another option is to just lower the darkness values of the glass area and adding that see through on your right frame....

I wanted to see your results using his technique.

What happened to wanting them black?
 
deffo bad shopping... am i the only one to notice the refection in the lenses is not the car, more like a bowling alley!
