Adobe Photoshop CS6 Move Tool Help

Hi all
I am trying to use the Move Tool in Adobe Photoshop CS6 to move around a layer in my picture. However, the layer often jumps from one point to another instead of fluidly following my mouse, as if it is snapping to specific areas of the image. How do I prevent this from happening?
