Isolate the subject from the white BG, then replace it with a golden one.

Remove the background

Duplicate 3 times and give each one a new BG color.

Take slices from the different layers with the Rectangular Marquis Tool and Command/Control + J to duplicate the slices to their own layer..
Place the slice layers above the top layer.

Move the slices with Move tool.

This image is very different than the one you posted in your first post and it will have to be done differently.

You want something like this?

Just like we did the last one.................

https://www.photoshopgurus.com/forum/photoshop-newbies/52408-help-making-glare-effect-like.html

Make 3 duplicate. Add a layer mask to the top two.
Add a color layer between them. Add a layer mask to top color layer. You will have to play with the layer modes of the color layers.

Highlight the first layer mask.
Then use your Rectangular Marquis tool to make a selection.
Fill the selection with black.
Highlight the next layer mask and add black to the same selection.

If you want the last color to show through...
Highlight the last layer mask and add black to the same selection.

Command/Control + D to deselect.
Repeat until your happy.

(note: I used color fill adjustment layers that had their own layer masks)

To get the grey, you have to have the same rectangle on ALL three layer masks.

Your missing the second layer mask.

Looking great!

I staggered the two lower car layers, that way, you would not see the line you have to the right side. I also placed guidelines where the staggered edges were on the two other car layers so I did not create a rectangle that would show the staggering.

Pretty impressive result, think I'm going to take the image and play about with the layering and colours using your steps. Nice picture too, love the mercs.

Still trying to get my head round layering so will take any practise I can get.

This might help you... few layering techniques
