Greetings all.

I've heard so much about this program but never tried it as I work in a different line and no time to learn this stuff. But as I'm curious, I decided to look around the net for anything photoshop and was amazed with what I found. One such site I found was Deviant.

And this caught my eye ..... (note by moderator: link to composite image removed)

Reading on, the individual mentioned the images used to create the piece. And I saw that the images were different complete pictures.

Can someone tell me - How does this work?

Hi Indiagirl -

Welcome to Photoshopgurus.com. FYI, new members are not allowed to post links until they have posted at least five non-trivial messages. Don't worry, you'll be there in a blink of an eye!

To answer your question, the name of the general method used to produce images like the one you cited is called, "compositing".

You can find many tutorials on this subject by Googling {photoshop compositing tutorial}.

A good tutorial to start with might be:
http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/tutorials/photoshop/advanced-compositing-techniques/#1

Obviously, one does need to develop basic photoshop skills before you attempt something that complicated, but if you are interested, members of this forum certainly will be happy to guide you.

Also, never post duplicate threads. Give your postings some time to be approved / move through the system. I just removed the two duplicate threads that you started.

So sorry.... I didn't know I'm not allowed to post links. Sorry about the other threads. I was wondering why they didn't appear.

Thanks for the info, Tom.

I got to see Photoshop's home site - Adobe. Maybe I'll download the trial version and experiment with it. So the CC is the latest version. But don't they have a boxed version?

I'll download the trial and give it a try. Thanks for the tutorial link. Looks like I got something new to study.

Indiagirl,
It's OK to post the images instead of the links.

"But don't they have a boxed version?"
You can still buy the boxed version but that's for CS6 and older versions, most of the time you get a link to a digital download instead of the DVD and then sent a license key

With Photoshop CC it's a subscription service that you pay either monthly or annually, they have a photography package available here
https://creative.adobe.com/plans?single_app=photoshop?store_code=ie

And here's the difference in versions CS3 to CC
http://www.adobe.com/ie/products/photoshop/versions.html

The only problem with the subscription option is that if you stop paying you won't be able to use Photoshop any longer!
The good thing about the subscription option is you get all the latest updates and new features
