[CS6] animation - automated halfing of frame numbers

I've cut a short gif from a film and appended a different gif.
So far, everything works as intended - except that it's using way too much space (20MB).

I should like to cut down on that without sacrificing too much quality.
One idea was that I could take the part from the film (which accounts to over 18MB of these 20MB), delete every second frame and double the delay between the remaining.
Repeat until satisfied.

The problem is, there are 'bout 300 frames and I don't want to make such an adjustment by hand.
Assuming I know nothing about automation with Photoshop (except that such a thing exists), how would I automate this?
