How to apply adjustment layer after layer effects?

Basically what the title says. I am trying to colorise a layer that has effects on it, but I would like to colorise the effects as well. If this is a bug, is there another way to colorise a layer with effects (preferably non-destructive)?

I am using PS7.

Hello and welcome to PSG.

Let's see an example of the layer with layer effects.

How are you trying to colorize?

OK, An adjustment layer can be several things.
These are all adjustment layers....

I see your trying to colorize the layer with the 'colorize' option of a Hue & Saturation layer adjustment.

I also see that you have the H&S layer clipped to a text layer that has the layer style/effects. Unclip it.

Show me the text (image) before and after the H&S colorization.

I see the problem.......... the easiest way is to turn the text layer into a smart object then clip the adjustment layer to the SO/text layer.
