Hi, just new to using photoshop.
Can someone help me with inserting colour into text? I'm trying to make part of the text a certain colour but can't figure out how to do it

Similar to this picture. Notice that "stadion" is blue in the middle but the top and bottom of "stadion" is white.

Any help with this would be appreciated
Thanks

What you could do is make a selection with the magic wand tool of the text and copy it to a new layer
Then Ctrl click on the new layers thumbnail to highlight the selection, change the foreground color to the color of choice and hit shift backspace key to fill the selection with that color
Then select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a selection just at the top of the text and hit the delete key, then do the same for the bottom to get this result

You can also apply a blend mode, in this case multiply, on the red colored layer to achieve the same result as the blue color:

A wise and old Chinese man once said to me: 'Once you turn 50 and wake up in the morning without feeling a little pain here or there, you're dead!'
So don't worrie if your system fails now and then.

LOL..... This older noggin can't resist chipping in with another rather exotic way..... But you might find use for it.....

Use the lasso or any of the marquee tools to create a selection. You can also do as gedstar suggested by using the magic wand tool to select the text. But instead of duplicating the text to a new layer.......

Add a solid color adjustment layer. Select desired color in the color picker box and click OK. The selection you initially created becomes a vector mask which you can edit - paint black to hide or white to reveal color....

Set the adjustment layer to Darken or Mulitiply (or as desired) and play with the layer opacity for taste.

The beauty of this is you can add more color adjustment layers in any shape and anywhere in the image as you wish. Just remember that intersecting masks will result in a mix of the colors.

And you can move or transform the shapes in the mask - with the layer's mask selected , use the transform tool to reshape or move.

If using gedstar's approach with the wand tool, you can accomplish a range of colors with certain characters in each text line as well as maintain the look of the text in the colored sample you posted......
