How did I do this?!

I am a very casual photoshop user I'd say and am using cs2. I seem to have most of the features any tutorial asks me to use. I made a cartoon-like image from a picture I had using a tutorial about a year ago and I can't figure out how to replicate it. I know how to use the magnetic lasso tool and then clean up the edges of the image but after that, I cant figure it out. I want to make my dump truck look like this so I can make a sign for my company that has both the skid steer and dump truck on it so they need to look alike. The one picture is what i want and the other picture is the closest i can get.

Whatever help I get is greatly appreciated!

p.s. This is the first time I've ever used a forum!

Try this:

1. Add a 'Black and White' adj layer.
2. Add a 'Threshold' adj layer.

Adjust to taste.

You could also throw in a 'Levels' adj layer between the two if you wanted to.

Play around with the B&W adj .... you may get a better result than the default.

Regards.
