How to add in a new image as an extra layer

Hi there, I have an image as my background layer already and want another image on top of this one as a second layer, how do I do this?

Very much depends on your version of PS, OS and where the image is.

Later versions of PS allow you to use FILE > PLACE .....etc.

If the other image is already open in a another document you can simply drag it to your current document.

If you use Windows and have the folder open in explorer then you can drag it from there. (To the menu bar, not the workspace)

If its in the clipboard you just need to paste it.

Lots of ways.
