We're nerds and doing this for our Christmas cards this year, and I've made some progress in Photoshop but I'm kind of to the point where I'm stuck and need some help making it look really good.

We want to make it look like we're in the "void" from Stranger Things, so basically just a black background with reflections in the water underneath us. I've cut everyone out and put the black background in, and have done my best on the reflections but they're just not looking quite real enough.

I'll post a couple examples of the actual void from Stranger Things too, for comparison.

This image isn't full-resolution, but I do have a full-size layered PSD I can send anyone if you've got time and are wanting to work on it.

Thanks in advance!

Your selections actually look quite good. If anything, I'd blur the mask a bit around the edges of everyone's hair.
I think your main problem here is just your colour saturation. If you add a HSL adjustment layer and bring the saturation slider down, it will bring you a step closer to recreating the effect.
I would also blur the reflection more and remove the turbulent distortion. Here's what I've done to it.

Awesome, thank you so much! That already looks much better just from what you've done to it. I'll play around with the saturation a bit also and try to match it to the original from the tv show. Thanks again!
