How to create your own patterns?

Hey. Please be more specific. Each of these patterns are very different and would require different methods in order to create. Please pick one specific pattern you would like to learn about.

Having said this, they all will be similar in their creations.

Start with a shape

Add a layer style.

Duplicate, position..........repeat.

You can then create a repeating pattern that can be used in an ellipse.

You can make something very close to the fourth pattern using the Halftone filter.
  • Create a new file with a white background. It can be any size, but make it with square dimensions.
  • Open a new layer and fill with white.
  • Go to Filter>Sketch>Halftone. For the pattern type, select Circle. Then adjust the size and contrast settings to your taste.
  • You should now have something like this:

To make it look more like your fourth pattern, here are some extra steps:
  • Reduce the layer opacity of your circles to about 20%.
  • Above that, add an Invert adjustment layer.
  • Above that, add a Levels adjustment to greatly boost the contrast, similar to the settings below.
